As the premier international forum for lasers and electro-optics, the Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics (CLEO) brings together leading minds across academia, industry and government to share breakthroughs across the spectrum of photonic research and real-world applications.
We invite the global optics and photonics community to propose compelling ideas for three CLEO 2027 technical program formats: Special Symposia, Applications & Technology Topical Reviews and Panels.
All proposals will be reviewed by the CLEO 2027 General and Program Chairs for consideration in the technical program. Your expertise, perspective and vision can help shape one of the most influential gatherings in the field.
Program Formats
Submit a proposal in the format that best supports your topic and intended discussion.
Special Symposia
These in-depth sessions feature invited and contributed papers focused on areas of heightened interest to CLEO attendees. Proposals should highlight timely, cutting-edge topics or emerging trends in rapidly advancing areas of research.
A&T Topical Reviews
Applications & Technology Topical Reviews feature invited and contributed papers emphasizing recent, impactful advances in photonics technologies that address real-world challenges. Proposals should center on timely, practical and application-driven innovations.
Panels
Panels are moderated, interactive discussions designed to explore important topics not typically addressed through formal presentations. Panelists should represent diverse or contrasting perspectives that encourage thoughtful conversation and audience engagement.
Submission Guidelines
All proposals must be submitted through the online submission form by Monday, 10 August 2026, at 11:59 PM Pacific Time. Each proposal should include:
- Contact information for the primary organizer.
- Organizer names, affiliations, countries and email addresses. Each session should have two to three organizers.
- The proposed session title and description.
- Session type: Special Symposium, Applications & Technology Topical Review or Panel.
- A brief justification explaining the timeliness and relevance of the topic and why it is particularly important now.
